Faces of DUAL: Meet Carrie Stone, Chief Risk Officer
Welcome back to Faces of DUAL, our interview series showcasing the talented individuals who make DUAL a great place to work. We’re excited to highlight their professional achievements and interesting hobbies outside of work. Today, we feature Carrie Stone, our Chief Risk Officer at DUAL UK. Carrie leads a team ensuring that DUAL navigates regulatory obligations smoothly while identifying and mitigating potential risks. Let’s dive into our conversation with Carrie!
Q: What are you striving to achieve at DUAL?
My main objective is to make sure that DUAL stays within our regulatory obligations and identifies any risks that might stop us from hitting our goals. With my team of risk and compliance professionals, we provide the toolkits and guidance so everyone can ensure we stay safe and look after our business.
Q: What do you find exciting about DUAL?
Definitely the variety. Every day is different, and there's always something new cropping up, a different problem to solve. For someone with a huge sense of FOMO, it’s a great role because I get to be involved in everything happening at DUAL.
Q: Tell us what it’s like working at DUAL in three words.
Growth, variety, and fun.
Q: How would you describe the working culture at DUAL?
In a role like mine, it needs to be a team effort to get things done. It’s been brilliant to work with people who just get it. As long as my team and I are clear about what we need people to do—whether it’s completing training or helping us embed the consumer duty—people engage and help out. So, a massive thank you to everyone.
Q: What’s an achievement of yours from outside of work?
After 20 years of downhill skiing, I decided to try different cold weather sports. Last year, I did a three-day Arctic Challenge across Finland on a fat bike, backcountry skis, and snowshoes. Next year, it’s a five-day hike across Iceland on snowshoes, pulling my gear on a sled and sleeping in mountain huts.
